Haters Gunna Hate

Clownie had learned long ago the subtle art of leading humans around without them knowing it. One had to do it slowly, planning ahead. You couldn’t be too obvious or they would resist. Gentle pressure and patience. That was the key.

This was something he had been trying to teach his daughter, Lettie, but she was too impatient and headstrong. She preferred simply to drag humans along behind her. But she was young yet, she would learn eventually.

Clownie spotted McIntyre leaning against the rail with his back to the arena, talking to some chick he didn’t recognize. Gently, he guided his handler over to the rail, looking, for all intents and purposes as if he hadn’t noticed the Scotsman.

Kat, watching from the in-gate, knew what was up immediately, but did not feel the need to warn neither Simon nor Anthony. Who was she to dent Clownie his sport after being away so long?

Anthony had only a split second’s warning and Simon, with his back to the arena, none at all. From Kat’s vantage point, it looked as if Clownie had only given him a playful nip, but Simon acted as if the Juggalo Pony stallion had ripped his arm off.

Kat doubled over laughing as Anthony gave the lead line a sharp jerk and firmly led Clownie away from the rail. Clownie, head tucked and tail held high, pranced behind him looking maddeningly smug.
